Script Development Writer

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Develop and research ideas for original screenplay that aligns to the creative vision for K+, ensuring alignment with Canal+ global vision and strategy.
• Bring in potential projects for development or acquisitions through pitches or submissions from outside companies.
• Develop concepts based on original material, or true events; or adapt from existing works (such as plays, novels, films, TV series, blogs, etc.) with legal permission.
• Create an initial framework, outline or treatment for screenplay.
• Guide show creators through script draft.
• Work with production to select freelance scriptwriters; give notes to the writers and work closely with them.
• Work with Director and Original Programming team in analyzing pitches and submissions to determine which projects are appropriate and financed for development
• Work with Producers and Director to edit and adjust the scripts as needed.
• Help with managing budgets, schedules, and logistics on productions.
• Establish new processes, procedures, and methods that improve script development outcomes
• Work with advertising sales in writing specific PPL scenes in the scripts.
• Additional duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Having a great understanding and well-developed knowledge of all the features of a great screenplay.
• Having an extensive knowledge of narrative and structure, character arc, plots etc.
• 5++ years of progressive experience working in scripted development at a network, studio, or OTT-provider
• Interaction and communication with filmmakers, talent, network executives.
• Multi-task and prioritize multiple demands.
• Create and deliver presentations that effectively showcase the potential of great screenplays.
• Writing and concise creative notes and project plans.
• Ability to accept critism.
