🎯 Your missions

Located in the London office or the Paris office, in our Legal and Business Affairs - International production and acquisitions department (consisting of the Head of the department, two senior executives and a paralegal, based in the Paris office).

 

Responsible for drafting, negotiating and revising a variety of agreements and documents in connection with international film and series development and production as well as contributing to other tasks handled by the department (including but not limited to international content acquisitions and remake/sequels agreements). Direct report to the Head of the department based in Paris.

 

MAIN DUTIES:

 • Drafting, negotiation and review of underlying rights and development agreements including conducting chain of title review and of turnaround agreements

• Drafting, negotiation and review of agreements related to production including but not limited to commissioning, finance and distribution agreements, international co-production agreements, interparty agreements, production services agreements with international service providers (production and post-production) and pertaining security agreements

• Drafting, negotiation and review of agreements and documents related to day to day production work such as agreements for cast, crew, line producers, executive producers..etc

• Review, guidance and negotiation of clearances and music licenses agreements with clearance companies/music supervisors

• Review and guidance on signatory process with guilds with detailed understanding of collective bargaining agreements (mainly US and US guilds for production and music)

• Handle legal delivery of productions

• Conduct legal review of main/end titles and creative materials and related marketing materials in connection with international productions and acquisitions

• In case of disputes, analyse the issues at stake, drafting initial letters and then cease and desist letters. Prepare the litigation memo and pertaining documentation for our outside US and/or UK counsels as applicable and following all proceedings with them.

• Share the workload of other team members as required, which will include dealing with internal and external enquiries

• Supervise the work of the paralegal with the two senior executives.

 

🏆 What about you ?

• 5 to 7 years of experience in legal production work in-house business affairs/legal department or in a media law firm;

• Strong skills in drafting contracts and documents and in negotiation to ensure the best terms are obtained;

• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

• Ability to analyze and assess business needs, spot issues and propose/implement solutions

• Excellent communication and coordination skills and ability to work in a corporate and multi-national environment ;

• Good team player;

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to flag key issues to the team members

• Proactive, resourceful, intellectually curious

• Effective written and oral communication skills in English is essential, basic notions of French would be a plus

• Legal training (University degree in Law - UK and/or US law)
